Character modelling

Cartoon Character, smoothed and low poly versions

To start the body i started with a cylinder and shaped it pulling and pushing the vertex's to fit the drawn picture given to the group for tis exercise. Due to the picture given not being in a 'T' pose which helps with modeling a organic character i used the arch tool to guesstimate where the arm will lift up to if the character was posed in such a position, i did this to make life easier for myself i shaped the vertex's around the shoulder area to make a circle to create a rounded face to extrude the arms outward, i also repeated this for the legs aswell.

To create the face i started off with an eye and a single polygon, i extruded the edges out around the eye to make the eye socket part of the head. Then from this i followed the rest of the facial features but extruding the edges out.

Make the human head model we used a template image showing where the main topology of the human face is. To start the model i used the same technique of using a single polygon and extruding the faces outwards. After creating a face or 'Mask' i then was given a correct to scale skull to wrap the mask around it.

After the head i moved on to modeling the hand to create this model i started off with a reference image of a hand and drew where the splits of the poly's would go, using that as a template i started off using a cube with 5 divisions in the the first place and i started to shape the vertex's and extrude outwards. After shaping the finger i extruded where the thumb will be and shaped it much in the same way as the fingers.

Moving on from the hand it came time to model the Ear, using a reference image of a human ear i started off with a polygon using the create polygon tool to get the right shape to start with and i used the same method as the human and cartoon face to shape out the ear pulling the edges. After getting the shape right i then filled the gaps in and extruded inwards to start the basic shape in 3 dimensions. after that i then pushed and pulled the vertex's till i was happy with the shape of the ear.

So, after i complete these different parts of the anatomy i then attached then to the cartoon character to finished him off.
